Ingredients

For the Cookies
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 3/4 sticks unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
2-3 tsp almond extract
zest of one orange

For the Frosting
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2-3 Tbsp orange juice
zest of one orange

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl, set aside.

In a separate mixing bowl, cream together (4 to 6 minutes) granulated sugar and butter, until mixture is light and fluffy. Slowly add eggs to mixture one at a time, then almond extract and orange zest, mixing until all ingredients are well combined. Gradually add flour mixture until well combined.

Separate approximately 2 Tbsp of dough and roll into balls, place about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Flatten each ball to create a cookie about 2 inches in diameter.

Place cookies in a 350-degree oven, for 12-14 minutes. Remove from oven, let cookies set for 5-10 minutes and transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Once cookies have cooled completely prepare the frosting. Combine powdered sugar with 1 Tbsp of orange juice, slowly adding the remaining amount of juice until the desired consistency is reached. Spoon 1-2 Tbsp of frosting onto each cookie and top with orange zest.
