2022 Season Update

“Our goal has always been to compliment local production, NOT compete.”

Over the last few seasons, we have seen the citrus market into the U.S. change drastically due to a number of factors. In 2018 we experienced a record year in volumes only to be surprised in 2019 with a shift in demand for Navel Oranges. With the rise of the pandemic in 2020, we experienced an exponential increase in demand due to consumers seeking foods rich in Vitamin C and immune boosting properties.

Now, in 2022, we are shipping record volumes of Navels Oranges with continued forward momentum and are seeing an even larger demand for Mandarins, as well as more available supply.

As we bring our South African citrus harvest to a close over the course of the month, we anticipate Midknights will take the place of Navels on the market. We’ll continue to see Star Ruby Grapefruit as a true star with excellent quality and limited quantities available – so book your supplies now!

We have now concluded with loadings from South Africa and the last vessel and containers are due for arrival later in October.

As always, we thank you for support and choosing SCSA! Without you, this program would not be made possible.

A Personal Note from Suhanra

“What a dream team we have.”

We run an extremely organized, fast-paced shipping program while also managing available supply to adhere to the demand of the market. We have gained a lot of momentum with our collaborative approach and intend the keep it going and growing for years to come!

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who are a part of this initiative for their dedication and focus throughout the season. We would not have been able to execute with excellence without your countless efforts.

I am thrilled to be back in the U.S. after the pandemic prohibited me from traveling. I look forward to seeing everything at the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando next week!

Warm regards,

Suhanra Conradie
